Famous portrait of Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara entitled: Guerrillero Heroico (translates to: “Heroic Guerrilla”), was taken on March 5, 1960, in Havana, Cuba, at a memorial service for victims of the La Coubre explosion. The photo was published after seven years later. At the moment of capture, Korda has stated that he was drawn to Guevara’s facial expression at the time, which was one of absolute implacability, anger, and pain. Years later Korda would reminisce that in his view, the photo encapsulated Che’s “character, firmness, stoicism, and resoluteness.”Guevara was 31 at the time the photo was taken.

“Despite the spectacularization of the image of Che, what remains compelling are the many instances worldwide which the photograph persists as a rallying point for political struggles. To articulate resistance, to define local rebellions, to announce solidarity with others, activist artists will undoubtedly continue to remake, reclaim and recontextualize Korda’s photograph, and in this way create what the English critic John Berger calls an ‘alternative photography.”

The centrality of the haka within All Black rugby tradition is not a recent development. Since the original “All Black” team of “New Zealand Natives” led by Joseph Warbrick the haka has been closely associated with New Zealand rugby. Its mystique has evolved along with the fierce determination, commitment and high level skill which has been the hallmark of New Zealand’s National game.

The haka adds a unique component, derived from the indigenous Maori of New Zealand, and which aligns with the wider Polynesian cultures of the Pacific.

The All Blacks perform the haka with precision and intensity which underpin the All Black approach.

All Black..everyone knows about All Black..mostly through its apparels…very nice black shirt with a small fern logo on the left chest side..recently i’ve been to one of its games in Wellington..the ticket was so damn expensive but nothing compared to the enjoyment we had that night. My wife was so facsinated throughout the game and now she keeps asking me to go again..but definitely not during winter..we were caught in cold that night..anyway it was one good experience..

Inilah Wellington..takdela best mana pun..it is a very small and compact city where you can walk around and enjoy the sun and coffee. It is indeed rich with cultures..due to so many cultural assimilation brought from different continents..its own maori culture is also interesting. Wellington is the third biggest city in New Zealand after Auckland and Christchurch with nearly 330,000 population, very small. The population for the whole of New Zealand is just 4 million plus and another interesting point is sheep already reaching 40 million. Shopping, theatres, cinemas, coffee are among main activities if you are in Wellington but wind is your biggest enemy. Given its geographical location, in between north and south island..the wind is able to blow up to 120mph..crazy..

Alternative Energy..are we ready?

Wind turbine in Brooklyn..the world is complaining that climate has become warmer..but yet we are not ready to change our behaviour..this wind turbine in Brooklyn, New Zealand is one of many that it has built around the country. The cost is expensive if we compare with the cheap nuclear energy, but to have a word nuclear in New Zealand policies is impossible because of 1986′s nuclear free policy which had led to a drift between the U.S and New Zealand. However, the drift has set this country to be more independent in its foreign policy. Back to the wind turbine…it produces energy based on kinetic principles – blade movement from wind absorb from Cook Strait. This turbine was installed in 1993. This Vestas turbine has a blade length of 13.5 meters and the nacelle is 31.5 meters above the ground. Maximum output of 225kW is enough to supply about 60-80 homes throughout the year.
